The paper, folded neatly into a triangle, skittered on her desk before falling on her lap. Arian caught it and flicked it open, looking over at Kendra who was pretending like she hadn’t just passed her a note like they were in the ninth grade again.

It’s been six months since we went through the portal.

Arian rolled her eyes, grabbing her pen and scratching out a response before sliding it across to the other girl, buried in her book (or at least trying to be absorbed in it).

Do you wanna go through again?

Don’t you?

Arian looked up from her book to sigh, scratching behind her ear with her pencil. She did, but it was also finals month, and any thoughts about time away from her books made her feel slightly nauseous around this time of the year.

More than anything.
