“Have you fucked her in this house?!”

“No! Are you insane?! I couldn’t…I…we never have!”

“Don’t lie to us!”

“I’m not lying.”

“Don’t answer back either!”

“I’m telling you the truth!”

The slap was enough to rattle her teeth and fill her mouth with blood. She closed her eyes against the sparks flashing through her vision and tried her best not to scream in pain.

“You are a lying, dirty, vindictive little bitch.”

“Mum, I swear-”

“Get out!”

The only thought running through her head was the fact that silence always sounded so much like noise after somebody had been yelling at you for thirty minutes.

“What?”

“You heard me, Arian. Get out. Pack your things, and leave!”

She didn’t even realize she was standing up and walking through the living room door until she bumped into her older sister, standing in the hall way, eyes wide.

“Are you really leaving?”

“They want me to,” she whispered.

She made to walk past her sister, almost got her foot onto the first step to her bedroom when Leila grabbed her hand and pulled her back.

“Just tell them it was all a lie. Break up with her and tell them you’ll work on changing and they’ll let you stay.”

She whipped her head around, staring at Leila as if she had grown a second head, or bitten into her skin with poisonous fangs and suddenly sprouted a forked tongue.

Which, by the way her head felt with those words, she may as well have.

“You’re just as bad as them.”
